Dendrochronological survey in Jirisan National Park
This year, Seunguk made several trips to Jirisan National Park to collect increment cores for a study on how ongoing climate change is reshaping temperate and subalpine forests. Along the elevation gradient, we watched the canopy thin from dense hardwoods to shrubland and noted extensive die-back in Korean fir (Abies koreana).
The growth rings in the cores will enable us to track these changes year by year.
